Versatile, cost-effective & Quick!
Light steel frame building is seen as the next step in the evolution of construction.
What is light steel frame construction all about?
The light steel construction method allows for a fast build that does not require foundations, yet offers superb strength and a quality finish. It can be used perfectly for building in outlying areas as it can be delivered “flat-packed” and erected on site. It offers the same, if not better, insulation as your standard build methods, with all your plumbing and electrical work beautifully hidden in the walls.
Will banks finance this method?
Yes, as long as the criteria below are in place:
NHBRC approval of rational design by a structural engineer;
Agrement certification if applicable
Construction must be in terms of the SABS Code of practice for L SFB structures
All materials SABS approved.
Developers/contractors are members of SASFA (South African Steel Frame Association)
The Benefits of light steel frame construction for your next building project.
Although relatively new to South Africa, it has already proven itself:
- It is a safe, non-combustible material;
- Being ZAMAG coated (Zinc, Aluminium & Magnesium) means it is resistant to rust and corrosion;
- Built on a floating concrete slab;
- We can achieve true and straight surfaces far more easily than the conventional build method;
- No chance of borer beetle infestation;
- Better thermal & acoustic insulation;
- Wiring and plumbing are significantly simplified due to easy-access holes created;
- A much cleaner worksite is one of the major advantages;
- It offers the same flexibility with design as all other building methods;
- It offers a minimum of a 40% reduction in construction time;
- The method can be utilised for commercial and industrial builds;
- Roof trusses are also manufactured from light steel.
